Inspectors
Tree Farm certifications are done by trained inspecting foresters
who volunteer their time and expertise to certify family forest owners
who are practicing forestry in a sustainable manner. In addition to the
satisfaction of helping others, inspectors are rewarded with prizes
based on the number of inspections done each year. Also, a contribution
for each inspection is made in the inspector’s name to one of 3
forestry-related nonprofit organizations in the state, or the inspector
may receive it as compensation to help defer transportation costs.
To become a certified ATFS inspecting forester, individuals must
have graduated from a 4-year forestry curriculum and attend a half-day
training session. Sessions are offered at various times around the
state.
If you are a forester who is interested in becoming involved in the
Washington Tree Farm Program, please send a message expressing your
interest to info@watreefarm.org and someone will contact you about the next training session.
